Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an ancient healing technique where we bring about a fundamental change in the skin by clearing blockages, creating space and movement in the underlying structures, so that the skin can function better.

The result is a reduction in the appearance of congestion and pimples, wrinkles, sagging and dullness, under-eye darkness and puffiness. You may notice a more clearly defined jawline, more toned neck and jowl, lifted appearance of the eye and an overall brighter skin complexion after just one session.

Because this work ultimately improves the health and function of your skin and tissues, many of our clients report reduced jaw tension, headaches and sinus congestion.

Buccal Facial Massage

Both preventative and corrective, buccal massage (pronounced “buckle”) is a specialized treatment that blends facial sculpting massage and intraoral (inside the mouth) massage.

Buccal facial massage promotes a deep release of tight facial muscles, as well as relaxation of surface tension, resulting in improved TMJ conditions, softening of facial lines, recovered muscle tone, reduced puffiness, and better cheek and jaw definition.

Hailed as the new, non-invasive facelift, buccal massage is a natural way to slow down premature ageing with the added health benefits of reducing emotional blockages, releasing tension caused by stress, and improving lymphatic drainage.

Buccal massage works simultaneously on the oral cavity and face, allowing your practitioner to reach deeper layers of muscle tissue and ligaments. The repetitive and rhythmic movements of this massage help to retrain the muscle to lift the face and improve muscle elasticity, while also relaxing both deep and surface tension, allowing for a more natural facial posture. With many lymph nodes in the cheeks, jaw, and neck, buccal facial massage also improves lymph flow to reduce puffy eyes, dark circles, and sagging skin, while improving skin detoxification.

Pressotherapy Treatment

Pressotherapy is a medical and beauty treatment that promotes lymphatic drainage by using air pressure on different parts of the body. By alternating between compression and decompression, it effectively stimulates the lymphatic system.

Benefits of pressotherapy

You can enjoy many positive health and beauty benefits from applying pressure waves. You will see improvements to circulatory system disorders and venous issues like varicose veins, tired legs and heavy limbs.

If you are thinking about getting fit and losing weight, this type of treatment may be for you. By combining pressotherapy, diet and exercise, you will see better results in less time. You can also treat swelling or drain the toxins, fats and liquids that cause cellulite. You will recover skin elasticity, increasing oxygen flow to the body’s tissues and helping them regenerate.

The treatment also stimulates the immune system, building up your defenses against pathogens, and can even help you lower your blood pressure if you have hypertension.

Elite athletes also use pressotherapy to improve their physical fitness. It is the perfect complement for toning muscles and joints. But is also relaxes the muscles, reducing muscle fatigue and preventing pain and cramping. Moreover, it strengthens connective tissues, alleviates stress and tension and reduces muscle spasms.

Who can benefit from the therapy?

You don’t have to have a health or beauty issue to receive this treatment. You can receive pressotherapy sessions to improve your health and well-being.

However, it can be quite useful for people with cellulite, bloating, varicose veins, circulatory issues, tired legs, rheumatism or menopause. It is also suitable for all ages.

Does pressotherapy have any contraindications?

There are practically no contraindications, but there are cases for which the treatment is not recommended. You should not receive pressotherapy if you suffer from deep vein thrombosis, infections in the areas to be treated, body pain or numbness, if you are a cancer patient or have a pacemaker, if you have heart disease. If you are pregnant ask your Doctor or midwife first. The treatment is very useful after giving birth and during postpartum recovery.

Practicing sports is not recommended before or after receiving the therapy. If you have any questions, please contact a professional in the field for personalized advice.

How soon are results seen?

You’ll need to do more than one session to see the results of pressotherapy. But after the first session you will feel a clear improvement to your physical fitness, especially in terms of the elasticity and flexibility of the tissues. The professional will then assess how many sessions you need.

LED Light Treatment

Red light and near infrared light harness therapeutic wavelengths of natural light and delivers it directly to your skin. The photons of red and near-infrared react with the mitochondria in your cells, where they stimulate the electrons during cellular respiration—the process that’s responsible for all our adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production. Helping the skin cells operate at their full potential!

Light therapy has been widely studied in clinical trials around the world for decades, starting with NASA nearly 30 years ago. In trial after trial, light therapy has been found safe and effective at promoting a wide range of pretty incredible health benefits.

Skin Health & Anti-Aging: Studies have found light therapy improves skin tone & complexion, diminishes signs of aging, speeds the healing of wounds and scars, and boosts natural collagen production. In one double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 74% of the participants reported a visible improvement in fine lines and wrinkles. Natural red and near-infrared light has also been found in clinical trials to have a therapeutic effect on the symptoms of painful skin conditions like psoriasis and acne.

Healing Wounds & Burns: Red light therapy has been shown in trials to aid the healing of wounds, burns, and scars by inducing the release of cytokines and chemokines in cells. In a 2018 study of light therapy and chronic wounds in diabetes patients, researchers found that the group treated with an LED device for 8 weeks resulted in scars with a smaller mean surface area compared to the non-LED group.

image0

Yakov Gershkovich is the author, creator and master trainer of the Sculptural Face Lifting Method. He is the leading specialist in the field of facial aesthetics in Israel and has been a sought-after teacher world-wide since 2010. Yakov has studied extensively in Israel, Russia, Lithuania and France and been practicing different styles of massage for over 16 years. For many years Yakov was looking for a fast and efficient method of natural rejuvenation without the use of injections or surgery. He has tried a variety of different methods, techniques and styles of massage to create Sculptural Face Lifting  – a unique method that gives effective results, visible even after the first treatment.

The Sculptural Face Lifting Technique propels the internal resources of the body to natural rejuvenation. What’s important is that this procedure also supports tightening and strengthening of the facial musculature, and normalises the client’s psycho-emotional state by releasing inner blocks and melting away anxiety and stress. The skin begins to glow. The face appears more sculptured. Dubbed as a “nature’s answer to Botox”, Sculptural Face Lifting is praised by beauty bloggers, A-list celebrities, actors and media personalities as well as thousands of ordinary women who chose this method to stay young and beautiful.

This non-invasive face lift promotes positive results like:

  • Relaxing tense facial muscles to restore elasticity and tighten and smooth the the skin.  Elimination of spasms and blockages
  • Improves stimulation of skin cell regeneration and prevention of wrinkles
  • Enhances body detoxification and cleans the skin
  • Launches blood circulation, lymphatic drainage and metabolism
  • Increases the microcirculation in the subcutaneous adipose tissue and normalises cellular respiration
  • Reduces presentation of double a chin
  • Reduces ‘drooping’ corners of lips

Why We Love the Silk Peel MicroDermabrasion

Praised for its ability to rejuvenate and renew the skin, microdermabrasion has been one of the most long-standing and popular choices in skin resurfacing and brightening. The goal of traditional microdermabrasion is to mechanically slough away the outermost layer of skin using crystals that rapidly penetrate the skin to reveal a brighter, healthier complexion. With new skin abrasion technologies coming to the forefront, we were intrigued by the newest form of Wet/DryMicrodermabrasion: Bio Brasion.

E-DERM-HERO-1920X610-2

What Makes It Superior to MicroDermabrasion?

Traditional Microdermabrasion, developed in 1985, is a non-invasive procedure that uses tiny crystals to remove the uses a special instrument that employs tiny exfoliated crystals to help remove the superficial layer of dead skin cells to replace the lost skin cells with new, healthy ones.  While the goal of Bio Brasion treatment is the same, there are a few factors that set Bio Brasion
apart.

Rather than using fine crystals to penetrate the skin, Bio Brasion is considered a controlled exfoliation in that it uses a diamond-head tip that is controlled by the skin therapist. Unlike microdermabrasion, it is performed on wet skin to loosen up dead skin cells. As well, because Bio Brasion uses a lower suction, the treatment is typically better for all skin types – whereas those with sensitive skin and weak capillaries would be advised to avoid traditional microdermabrasion treatments. The gentle suction also helps to remove impurities and increase blood flow to the epidermis, encouraging cell turnover and production of collagen and elastin. What the end result boils down to is a more effective, deeper and risk-free exfoliation that reveals hydrated and radiant
skin.

Holistic Skincare Guide for Cooler Weather

As the seasons shift to cooler temperatures, drier air and indoor heating, our skin needs a little extra love to carry us through the winter season with glowing, hydrated skin. Our holistic estheticians and experts have compiled a helpful list of tips and tricks to stock your fragrant apothecary and help heal and seal the skin through the harshest of climates.

Natural-Ingredients1

1. Oil Cleansing

Using pure pressed plant oils is an ancient Ayurvedic method to cleanse and gently exfoliate the skin, revealing healthy, quenched skin. To keep the skin shielded from the winter elements, it is essential to maintain and defend the acid mantle, known as the protective barrier between you and the outside world. Incorporating a daily ritual of oil cleansing will deeply cleanse the skin and provide the ultimate sanctuary to keep your skin cells singing with dewy delight through cooler temperatures. Oil cleansing also gently nudges us to slow down our nightly routines and reflect on our days with aromatic glee. Our go-to winter skin saviour for both cleansing and moisturizing is any one of Living Libations’ Best Skin Evers!

2. Switch Up Your Skincare Rituals

Long gone are the days of humid summer’s past! Along with oil cleansing, it is crucial that we adjust our winter skincare rituals accordingly. Retiring your lighter summer moisturizers and opting for a heavier botanical serum or cream will combat dry, flaky skin and deeply quench your skin from within. Because skin care is not one size fits all, we encourage our clients to drop by SEED and speak with one of our holistic experts to find a winter routine that fits your skin type and hydration needs.

3. Book A Seasonal Facial

A seasonal holistic facial will deeply hydrate, balance, soothe and unclog pores, removing any stagnation and ultimately providing a clean slate for the skin to thrive during the winter months. We highly recommend our Joyful Rejuvenation Facial to get you and your skin through the winter months with grace! Enjoy a steam, aromatic hot towels, customized botanical oils and a relaxing head, shoulder, scalp and facial massage with one of our holistic estheticians by calling (705) 445-1454 or booking your treatment online.

4. Stay Hydrated From Within

Water, water and more water! Sipping on water and herbal teas throughout the day will keep your cells hydrated from within. We highly suggest drinking warm water infused with lemon and ginger throughout the day as opposed to cold water, and to incorporate healthy fats and warming foods into your diet to lubricate the cells and skin from the inside out!
